PocketMac® FAQ 9.1 PocketMac®
doesn't seem to find the Pocket PC even though it's connected. What
can I do? 2. The Pocket PC itself is password-protected. If you have to enter a password when you turn on the Pocket PC, then it's password-protected. Please turn off the password-protection by going into Start->Settings on your Pocket PC and launching the Password control panel. Please choose "No Password" and then click the "ok" in the upper-right corner. 3. Please ensure that your Pocket PC has the correct ActiveSync settings. To do this, please go into Start->ActiveSync on your Pocket PC. Then choose "Tools->Options" from the menu. On the first tab there, which says "PC", please ensure that both items are checked. On the tab labeled "schedule", please ensure that **none** of the items are checked. This is something new we're only just now seeing. 4. The Pocket PC is connected to the Mac
through a USB hub. Try plugging the Pocket PC directly into the Mac's USB ports
to see if that resolves the issue. If this doesn't help, please contact tech support for further assistance. 9.2 I'm using Brickhouse or a different firewall product. What can I do? It's still possible to
configure other firewall products such that PocketMac® can work with them. You
just want to look for an "Add protocol" or "Add ports"
option somewhere in the firewall software, and then follow the firewall
software's instructions. 9.4 How do I uninstall PocketMac®? The installer serves as an
uninstaller as well. Please do not manually delete files. Please note: VPC sometimes uses Mac drivers when it shouldn't. If you are unable to connect through VPC, please try the following: If you want Virtual PC to use the Pocket PC, you'll have to run
a few scripts in Terminal. (Please note this is for advanced users and will
be much easier in the next release of PocketMac® Pro.) kextunload /System/Library/Extensions/PocketMacUSB.kext followed by the enter key, and then when you're done using Virtual PC: kextload /System/Library/Extensions/PocketMacUSB.kext followed by the enter key. 9.6 When I remove the Pocket PC, the Mac tells me "the modem has disconnected". What does this mean? Please note: This was a Pro 2.0 issue that has been fixed
in Pro 3.0. The Mac regards the Pocket PC
as a communications device (i.e., a modem) so when you disconnect your Pocket
PC, the Mac will attempt to be helpful and let you know that it's disconnected. Please try initiating the sync
from the Mac side and not the Pocket PC side. Just go into PocketMac®, and click
"Synchronize" to sync. Please note: This was a Pro 2.0 issue that has been fixed in Pro 3.0. In the Preferences screen of PocketMac®, when you check off the types of data that you want to sync, you're also given a button to "Choose A Plugin". When you click that button, a window appears whose purpose it is to help you locate files on your Mac HD. You'll want to look in the Mac HD's Applications folder, and inside there you'll find the PocketMac® Pro 2.0 folder, and finally inside there, you'll find the Plugins Folder. It is in the Plugins Folder that the various plugins for synching reside. You'll want to select the one you want, then click "Open". Then, repeat this for the other plugins. Finally, when you're done here, click "Save" and you should be all set.
Please note: This was a Pro 2.0 issue that has been fixed in Pro 3.0. Some ISPs make changes to the Mac which unintentionally cause this situation. However, it is easy to fix. Just go into System Prefs/Network, choose "Available Port Configurations" from the "Show" popup, and then arrange the ports (by clicking and dragging) such that PocketMac® is on the bottom of the list. 9.11 What is PMSystemReport in the PocketMac® Bonus Software folder? Why would I use it? It's a tool to help our support
techs "see" what's happening on your Mac if something's not working as
you'd like. By running the report, and sending our tech people a copy of the
report, you can help them get a good idea of what might be wrong. Log out/log in on the Mac and then try connecting the Jornada to the Mac again but with the AC power disconnected until after the device has connected. It sounds odd, but the Jornada seems to have a restriction against charging/being connected to AC power while establishing a connection with the Mac.
