All
the time people ask us, "Are you guys nuts?" "What Mac user would want a Pocket PC?"
Our answer is always the same -- all of them!
Macs and Pocket PCs are great at the same things, but most
Mac users will never know it.
Why?
|
Because many software companies
feel they can ignore the Mac market. They have for years and they'll keep right
on doing it.
They love to tell themselves that the Mac is only some
small percentage of the market but what they fail to realize is that even 1% of
the market is still tens of millions of users. And, these tens of millions of
users are super-passionate about their computers.
What better audience could developers of new hardware and
software ask for?
Yet, no Pocket PC will work with a Mac out-of-the-box.
Think about it - the things that Pocket PCs are great at,
namely
Graphics
Movies
Music/MP3s
Flash
content
Games
Web
browsing
Wireless
networking
are the very same tasks and activities that people love to
use their Macs for!

(Only $41.77)
And, any serious Mac user will tell you that the
handwriting recognition of the Pocket PC is the first thing to even come close
to what Apple's Newton could do years ago.
Add to that the fact that when compared to the Palm,
which has been Mac users' only other option so far, the Pocket PCs consistently
rank faster and easier-to-use by far!
So, why shouldn't the two work together? We couldn't figure
it out either.
This, then, is the story of one more software company
that didn't ignore the Mac community and, in fact, became a Mac software
company. (A true "Switch" story, indeed.)
We had been developing custom software for the Pocket PC
for quite a while. And, when we saw the Pocket PCs that were to be released
about a year ago, they excited us just as they excite you now. We were
passionate about them, and we saw that other Pocket PC users were passionate
about their devices, too.

We realized, though, that their inability to work with Macs was a big problem
and set to work trying to figure out if something could be done.
About halfway through our research, one of our engineers
told us a friend had asked if there was any way he could sync his Pocket PC with
a Mac.
At that moment, we knew we were on to something.
Well, shortly after that, we announced the initial release
of PocketMac® Regular Edition.
About four months after that, we released PocketMac® Pro 1.4 for OS X. It was a vast improvement over the Regular Edition as it
synchronized contacts, calendar and tasks between Microsoft Entourage on the Mac
and a wide variety of Pocket PCs.
Now, today, more than three years after we started down this road, we have PocketMac®
Pro 3.0. Not merely an update, but a completely new product.
As one of our
users, Chris Van Eyck told us...
This is a tremendous update, and truly makes PocketMac® ready
for prime time. It works really well, and the interface is beautiful. I was
amazed that the problems I had with syncing during the beta releases were
cleaned up completely - in fact, the Address Book sync occurred so quickly I was
convinced that it couldn't have worked! 155 contacts done in about 10 seconds!

PC
Magazine (February 17, 2004)
PC Magazine awards PocketMac Pro 4 out of 5 stars.
"...the release of PocketMac 3.0 should have Mac fans
taking a hard look at Pocket PC 2003-based or Smartphone-based
models the next time they purchase a handheld.
One
of the joys of PocketMac is how well it works with standard
Mac applications. During installation, it adds a folder to
your default web browser bookmark list, where you can save web
pages that you want synched later.
And
Mac users who are allergic to anything Windows will love the
optional theme which gives the Pocket PC interface a Mac OS
look."
